Manufacturing Process

1. Product Design & Development

The base plate is developed according to the flour mill's overall dimensions, component arrangement, motor position, grinding chamber, body housing, mounting points, floor-contact requirements, and expected mechanical loads. Wall thickness, ribs, bosses, reinforcement areas, draft angles, clearances, and assembly interfaces are evaluated during product development.

2. Plastic Mould Design

The injection mould is designed according to the base plate geometry. The cavity, core, parting line, gate location, runner system, cooling channels, venting, and ejection arrangement are planned to achieve accurate formation of ribs, bosses, mounting points, clips, locating features, and other structural details.

3. Mould Manufacturing

The mould can be manufactured using suitable tool steel such as P20 Steel, H13 Steel, or S136 Steel, depending on production volume, required mould life, dimensional requirements, and surface finish. CNC machining, EDM, grinding, polishing, fitting, and mould assembly are carried out as required.

4. Injection Moulding

The selected thermoplastic material is heated and injected into the mould cavity under controlled processing conditions. Injection pressure, melt temperature, holding pressure, cooling time, and cycle time are adjusted according to the selected material and base-plate geometry.

5. Finishing & Assembly Preparation

After moulding, gates and excess plastic are removed where applicable. The base plate is inspected for mounting features, structural ribs, floor-contact areas, openings, and mating surfaces. Components are prepared for assembly with the flour mill housing and internal assemblies.

6. Quality Inspection

Finished base plates are inspected for dimensional accuracy, mounting locations, structural features, wall thickness, flatness, surface quality, warpage, flash, and proper fitment with the intended flour mill assembly.

Raw Materials

MaterialTypical Application
PPLightweight base plates requiring suitable flexibility
ABSRigid base applications with good surface appearance
HIPSEconomical base plate applications
PC+ABSApplications requiring a balance of impact strength and dimensional stability
PBTApplications requiring dimensional and thermal stability
Nylon/PAApplications requiring higher mechanical strength
Glass-Filled NylonStructural applications requiring enhanced stiffness
HDPESelected base applications requiring impact resistance
Flame-Retardant PlasticApplications requiring enhanced fire-performance characteristics, subject to specification

The final plastic grade should be selected according to the required load, machine weight, vibration, operating temperature, mounting conditions, impact requirements, and environmental conditions. Where the base plate is positioned close to heat-generating electrical or motor components, the selected material should be validated for the actual operating temperature.

Quality Control

  • Raw Material Inspection: Plastic grade, colour, and incoming material condition are checked before production.

  • Mould Inspection: Cavity, core, parting surfaces, cooling system, venting, and ejection arrangement are inspected.

  • Dimensional Inspection: Overall dimensions, flatness, wall thickness, mounting points, ribs, bosses, and critical interfaces are checked.

  • Visual Inspection: Components are checked for flash, short shots, sink marks, warpage, weld lines, burn marks, scratches, and other moulding defects.

  • Structural Inspection: Reinforced areas, mounting bosses, ribs, and load-bearing features are checked according to the approved design.

  • Assembly Inspection: The base plate is checked for proper fitment with the motor, housing, grinding assembly, feet, and other specified components.

  • Packaging Inspection: Finished base plates are packed appropriately to minimize scratches, deformation, dust, and handling damage.

Buyer Guide

When sourcing an Electric Flour Mill Plastic Base Plate Mould and Moulding Service, buyers should provide the base plate dimensions, machine weight or applicable loading information, motor and grinding assembly locations, mounting arrangement, floor-contact requirements, housing dimensions, 2D engineering drawing or 3D CAD model, preferred plastic grade, colour, surface finish, and expected production quantity.

For new product development, special attention should be given to structural strength, flatness, mounting-boss strength, machine vibration, load distribution, floor-contact arrangement, component clearances, wall thickness, rib design, operating temperature, and assembly requirements.
