Manufacturing Process

1. Product Design & Development

The motor coupling is developed according to the motor shaft, driven shaft, required torque, rotational speed, direction of rotation, and available assembly space. Bore dimensions, key or flat features, hub length, wall thickness, engagement depth, alignment, and surrounding clearances are evaluated during product development.

2. Plastic Mould Design

The injection mould is designed according to the coupling geometry. Cavity and core configuration, parting line, gate location, runner system, cooling channels, venting, and ejection arrangement are planned to accurately form the coupling body, shaft bores, hubs, keyways, flats, ribs, and locating features.

3. Mould Manufacturing

The mould can be manufactured using suitable tool steel such as P20 Steel, H13 Steel, or S136 Steel, depending on production volume, required mould life, dimensional requirements, and surface finish. CNC machining, EDM, grinding, polishing, fitting, and mould trials are performed as required.

4. Injection Moulding

The selected thermoplastic material is heated and injected into the mould cavity under controlled processing conditions. Injection pressure, melt temperature, holding pressure, cooling time, and cycle time are adjusted according to the selected material and coupling geometry.

5. Finishing & Assembly Preparation

After moulding, gates and excess plastic are removed where applicable. Shaft bores, keyways, flats, hubs, drive interfaces, and other critical surfaces are checked and finished as required. Where applicable, the moulded coupling can be evaluated for alignment and rotational fitment with the mating components.

6. Quality Inspection

Finished motor couplings are inspected for dimensional accuracy, bore geometry, shaft engagement, hub dimensions, surface quality, warpage, flash, and proper fitment with the motor and driven components.

Raw Materials

MaterialTypical Application
POM / AcetalCouplings requiring low friction, dimensional stability, and suitable wear resistance
Nylon / PAApplications requiring mechanical strength and impact resistance
Glass-Filled NylonCouplings requiring increased stiffness and mechanical strength
PBTApplications requiring dimensional and thermal stability
PC+ABSApplications requiring a balance of rigidity and impact resistance
PPLightweight coupling applications with suitable flexibility
ABSRigid components where appearance and dimensional stability are important
HDPEApplications requiring suitable toughness and moisture resistance
Engineering PlasticApplications requiring specific mechanical, thermal, or wear characteristics

The final plastic grade should be selected according to the required torque, rotational speed, shaft interface, repeated operating cycles, friction and wear, operating temperature, vibration, and mechanical loading. The material and coupling geometry should be validated for the actual motor and driven-component requirements.

Quality Control

  • Raw Material Inspection: Plastic grade, colour, and incoming material condition are checked before production.

  • Mould Inspection: Cavity, core, bore-forming sections, keyway or feature-forming sections, cooling system, and ejection arrangement are inspected.

  • Dimensional Inspection: Overall dimensions, bore diameter, hub dimensions, engagement depth, keyway or flat dimensions, and critical interfaces are checked.

  • Visual Inspection: Components are inspected for flash, short shots, sink marks, warpage, weld lines, scratches, burn marks, and other moulding defects.

  • Shaft Interface Inspection: Motor and driven-shaft interfaces are checked for dimensional consistency and proper engagement.

  • Rotational & Functional Inspection: Coupling alignment, rotational fitment, clearance, and engagement with the specified drive components are checked according to the approved design.

  • Packaging Inspection: Finished components are packed appropriately to minimize deformation, scratches, dust, and handling damage.

Buyer Guide

When sourcing an Electric Flour Mill Plastic Motor Coupling Mould and Moulding Service, buyers should provide the motor shaft diameter and profile, driven shaft dimensions, key or flat details, coupling dimensions, required torque and rotational speed, shaft engagement length, 2D engineering drawing or 3D CAD model, preferred plastic grade, colour, surface finish, and estimated production quantity where available.

For new product development, special attention should be given to shaft interfaces, bore tolerances, torque transmission, rotational speed, alignment, hub geometry, engagement depth, vibration, repeated operating cycles, friction and wear, and operating temperature. The final material and coupling design should be validated under the actual operating conditions.
